Dangereux, le métier de bûcheron? Ça l’est pour Kevin Wenstob! Avec son équipe, il fait tout en son possible pour assurer la survie de la scierie dont il est propriétaire. Il exploite notamment une concession forestière isolée, située en haut d’un flanc de montagne escarpé et accidenté, en plein cœur de l’île de Vancouver. On y trouve le meilleur bois. Kevin accepte le pari risqué d’en sortir 1000 chargements d’ici l’arrivée du printemps. Mais l’hiver et la montagne ne le laisseront pas arriver à ses fins si facilement. Des millions de dollars sont en jeu. Avec sa femme Sarah, son fils Erik et son bras droit Coleman à ses côtés, Kevin tentera le tout pour le tout.
